Recently, we received at our workshop an ELAU servomotor that failed again less than three months after having been repaired by another service provider.<\/div>\n

According to the repair label, the previous repair was carried out on June 10, 2026<\/strong>. The servomotor was reinstalled on August 18, 2026<\/strong>, when an encoder-related issue was detected during commissioning<\/strong>. The motor was then removed and sent to our facilities for technical analysis.<\/div>\n

The reported problem was an encoder failure.<\/p>\n

At first glance, this might appear to be a simple feedback-related issue. However, as often happens in industrial maintenance, the deeper we looked, the more questions emerged.<\/p>\n

“Why did the encoder fail?”<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was:<\/p>\n

“Was the motor ever fully validated after the previous repair?”<\/strong><\/p>\n
